Shark Spartan GT Pro Toryan Mat ABK

The Shark Spartan GT Pro from the helmet brand Shark is the successor to the Shark Spartan GT Carbon. This Full-Face helmet will be the latest addition in Sharks line of Sport-touring helmets, so stay tuned to find out what features and specifications this helmet has to offer and how it performed out on the road!

The helmet is ECE 22.06 certified which you see on every new helmet released. This will influence the results which we will discuss later in this video. Before we get into the review in the studio and the road-test first some general points.

The Spartan GT Pro has an oval fit and is available in the sizes XS up to XXL. The helmet has a retail price of about 490 euro or 490 US Dollar.

Because this helmet is a sport-touring helmet it will compete with the Shoei GT Air 2, AGV K6, Bell Star DLX MIPS, Arai Profile-V, Scorpion EXO-1400 EVO Carbon, Shoei NXR 2 and the HJC RPHA 71

Material

We’re going to start the review and we will do so with the material part. The Shark Spartan GT Pro is a carbon Fiber Helmet. Carbon is the best material you can get since this is lighter and provides better protection compared to a helmet made out of fiberglass or polycarbonate.

Besides the carbon outer shell the helmet is available in 2 outer shell sizes which is not a great result. The more outer shell sizes a helmet has the better. This is because a helmet with more outer shell sizes is safer and looks a lot better.

When we weighed the Spartan GT Pro in a size M the scale indicated 1464 grams which is in an interesting result.

New ECE 22.06 certified helmets are normally on the heavier side, because more material needs to be used to meet this requirement.

Visor

The Spartan GT Pro has the VZ300 visor, which is anti-scratch treated. The visor is also pinlock lens prepared and included in the box, the pinlock that is included in the box is a pinlock 120 Max Vision lens.

A pinlock lens ensures that your visor does not fog up in colder weather. The Spartan GT also has a integrated sun visor which is anti-fog prepared and can be put down or up by the slider on top of the head.

Ventilation

We continue with the ventilation of the helmet, and we are going to discuss the ventilation options first before looking at the results of the road-test. The Spartan GT Pro has one vent on the chin that you can open and close by using a switch.

On top of the helmet there is also a large top vent that you can also open and close by means of a slider. All the warm air in the helmet can escape through the spoiler on the back of the helmet, which you open and close, again, with a switch.

Comfort

The Spartan GT Pro felt similar to the Spartan GT Carbon and builds on 3D Morpho cheek pads that will ensure a perfect fit. Besides the Morpho Cheek pads the inner lining of the Spartan GT Pro is removable, washable and anti-bacterial. With this helmet you also get two chin curtains, one for the winter and one for the summer. This makes it possible to change the helmet to the season you are riding in.

Features

The Emergency Quick Release is a big safety feature that may help the first people to respond in case something happens.

The helmet has a Double-D Closure which is the safest closure a helmet can have. Besides the safety features the helmet also has a cut-out in the EPS inner shell for riders who wear glasses and a preparation for a Shark Tooth Prime communication system.

The last thing we are going to mention is that the Spartan GT Pro is approved according to the ECE 22.06 certification, which will become mandatory for manufactures when creating and designed new helmets.
