The Scorpion EXO Combat Evo is not your typical motorcycle helmet. Complimented with an aggressive urban design, the helmet can be converted to work with any type of bike. The removable rear sleeve allows the Scorpion Exo Combat Evo to transform from a full-face helmet look into a 3/4 open face helmet, which is also ECE approved.
Material
The outer shell is made out of advanced LG polycarbonate, which is developed exclusively by Scorpion and is engineered to minimize weight and disperse impact.
While polycarbonate will be somewhat heavier than other materials, such as fiber glass & carbon glass, this is still a sturdy material. You’re also getting a dual density EPS foam liner that combines hard and soft EPS foams, which will protect you against different types of impact.
The removable chin bar, or face guard, comes with Neodymium magnets to make sure it is clasped in securely, and the exterior is made of soft rubber which is quite flexible. Therefore, it won’t give impact protection, although it will support wind & dust protection. The helmet comes in weighing at about 1250 gr for size M.
Visor
The integrated drop-down sun visor is retractable and tinted to help reduce eye strain in varying light conditions. The helmet comes with a dark smoke visor installed.
When it is flipped up, the visor is completely out of the way as it folds inside the helmet, and when it is flipped down with the face guard on, the gasket within the face guard helps to seal everything off which helps decrease the amount of dirt and wind that comes while riding.
Ventilation
The Scorpion Exo Combat Evo has an aero tuned ventilation system on the top of the helmet, which will help pull air and make sure your forehead stays dry in warm weather conditions when you’re using the full-face variant, so you can keep yourself fresh and cool.
The EPS liner comes with cuts in it as well which allows venting, and the removable chin bar has micro fleece lining and vents that allows air to flow through.
Comfort
The helmet has an oval form, which basically means that the length from the head from the front to the back is a little longer than from left to right.
The liner is easily removable, washable, hypoallergenic, and helps draw moisture away, which keeps you stay dry and make sure the helmet won’t smell funny even after being used for several times.
It features a KwikWick II Anti-Microbial Comfort liner, that helps keep you cool and dry in warm weather, and warm in cool weather. Moreover, the liner is also prepared for people who wears glasses, so if you’d like to wear separate sunglasses or regular glasses, you can easily slide them in.
The EPS liner on the neck roll here also provides more protection and comfort on the neck, which is a big plus with regards to comfort & safety. As for communication preparedness, the helmet does not have internal pockets to put in speakers, though you can put these in yourself, it does give less room for your ears as there is no designated place for it. The Micrometric automatic closure on the chin strap is quick to open and close and can be precisely adjusted according to your comfort.
Summary
The Scorpion Exo Combat Evo helmet has the versatility to fit the style and performance of the rider. Not only does this helmet has high quality specs and convertible features, the half space soldier – half retro drag racer style of this helmet will certainly make you stand out among other riders. With materials like a LG polycarbonate shell, a KwikWick II Anti-Microbial Comfort interior, and a removable chin mask, this helmet should serve you well overall.
